CLICK PLUS Email Instruction

Description

CLICK PLUS CPUs can send Email messages using either Port1 or WLAN. These Emails can be sent to multiple recipients, can include Dynamic Data Values. The Subject and Message have a maximum length of 128 bytes each, or up to 8 Embedded Memory Addresses or Embedded Discrete Messages. The instruction is edge triggered and may take several seconds to complete depending on the speed of the Email Server.

Configuring the Email Instruction

Complete the fields on the Email screen.

Com Port: The Email Client is configured to use either Port1 or WLAN; it cannot use both.

Email Setup: This is a shortcut to the Email Setup dialog.

Display Names and Address: The default Instruction view will show only the Name from the Address Book. Enabling this will also display the Email Address within the Instruction.

To/CC/BCC Address Book: Open the Address Book in Pickup Mode to choose the recipients of this Email Instruction. There must be at least one “To” address. “CC” and “BCC” are optional. (“CC” = Carbon Copy, “BCC” = Blind Carbon Copy.)

Subject Builder: The Email Subject text is created using the Subject Builder. The text can be Static, contain Register Values, or be fully Dynamic. The maximum length is 128 characters.

Static Text Message: The Email Body can be defined here. The text can be Static, contain Register Values, and Discrete On/Off Text. The maximum length is 128 characters.

Dynamic Text Message: This option can be selected when the Email Body was previously created in a TXT address block. Trailing Space and Null characters are allowed to terminate or fill the block length. The maximum length is 128 characters.

Sending: Assign a C bit as the Sending Flag. This C bit turns ON during the communications between the Email Client and Server.

Success: Assign a C bit as the Success Flag. This C bit turns ON after the Email Client sent the message successfully. It stays ON until this instruction is re-enabled.

Error: Assign a C bit as the Error Flag. This C bit turns ON after the Email Client could not write data to the Email Server successfully. It stays ON until this instruction is re-enabled. Check the Email Log for more diagnostic information.

Error Code: Assign a DS or DD Memory Address to store the Exception Response from the Email Server. Check the Email Log for more diagnostic information.

Note: The Email Client supports a single Enabled Email Instruction. If different Emails need to be sent they must be Enabled individually in sequence using the status bits.

Send a Text Message via Email: Reference your cell provider for additional details on the ability to send an email-to-text service that will allow standard text messages to be generated and then sent to a specified cell phone number instead of an email account. This is a quick and easy way to test your SMTP Client settings from the CLICK CPU to your cell phone. For example: AT&T customers tendigitcellnumber@txt.att.net.
