AutomationDirect SOLO Temp Controller Setup |
Topic: CM521![]() |
This SOLO temperature controller driver allows C-more to easily and directly access the parameters for viewing and/or adjustment over a serial connection.
Checking SOLO Communications Parameters
The serial communication settings are shown below and should be set to match the settings in the C-more Programming Software Panel Manager window.
To check or change the serial communication parameters in SOLO, go to the Initial Setting Parameters (P3-xx) by pressing and holding the SET button on the front of the controller for more than 3 seconds.
-
Parameter P3-12 must be turned ON in order to be able to change parameters in the controller from C-more.
-
Parameter P3-13 must be set to RTU in order for C-more to be able to communicate to the controller.
-
Parameters P3-14, P3-15, P3-17 and P3-18 need only match the C-more Programming Software Panel Manager settings.
-
Parameter P3-16 must be set to 8.
C-more Panel Manager Settings
- To access the Panel Manager, Do one of the following:
- From the Main menu, select Setup and then Panel Manger, or
- From the Navigation window, click the Function tab, select Setup and then select Panel Manager.
- From the Panel Manager window, click on the DEV001 selection on the tree to the left to open the Device Setup screen of the Panel Manager window shown below.
- In the PLC Protocol field, click on the down arrow
and select the AutomationDirect SOLO Temp Controller selection.
When you select a different PLC Protocol than the one currently in use, the warning Message shown below appears.
- Click Yes to accept.
ClConnection Through Another PanelYou can configure this protocol for any PLC supported by C-more panels. You can connect a C-more panel to other C-more panels on your network via an ethernet connection. This type of connection is also known as a Pass Through Connection.Go to Connection Through Another Panel (Pass-Through) to learn more about Pass Through and using Connection Through Another Panel.
The AutomationDirect SOLO Temp Controller Panel Manager window provides the data described in the table below.
Panel Manager |
|
---|---|
Field |
Description |
PLC Slave Number |
The Slave Address of the SOLO controller. This number should match the value set in parameter P3-14 of the SOLO controller that is connected to C-more |
Baud Rate |
The Baud Rate setting should match the rate set in parameter P3-15 of the SOLO controller. |
Parity |
The Parity setting should match the parity selected in parameter P3-17 of the SOLO controller |
Stop Bit |
This value should match the Stop bit selection configured in parameter P3-18 of the SOLO controller |
Control RTS |
If Yes is selected in this field, then C-more will assert the RTS signal of the serial port before transmitting data. This signal is commonly used with media converters, such as a FA-ISOCON |
Require CTS |
If Yes is selected in this field, then C-more will check to see if the CTS signal has been asserted from the connected device before it will transmit data. |
Select RS 485 |
Select Yes for this field. The SD+ and RD+ must be jumpered and the SD- and RD- pins must be jumpered. This setting is on by default since the SOLO controllers use 2 wire RS-485 as their method of serial communication. |
PLC Protocol, Registers Per Message and Coils Per Message |
These fields are read only and are not accessible. |
Timeout Time |
The amount of time (in 100 ms) that the panel will wait on a reply after sending a request. |
Poll Time |
The amount of time (in milliseconds) that the panel will wait in between each request. |
