Numeric Entry Object

Numeric Entry Object allows you to enter or change a Tag Name numeric value from the panel screen.

 

Note: You can select the option to suppress scientific notation (exponential notation) when using Floating Point Data in the Panel Manager window. This is a global selection and applies to all Floating Point Data display objects.

Add a Numeric Entry Object to Your Project

From the Object menu, select Entry.

  1. Click Numeric Entry.
  2. Click on the work area
    —or—
    click and drag to draw the object.

  1. From the Object List, click and drag Numeric Entry to the work area.

Configuring a Standard Rectangle Object

The General tab is the default tab and is used for the basic configuration of the Rectangle Object.

To configure a standard Numeric Entry, complete the fields on the screen that are common to all objects using the information in the Working with Objects Help topic.

Complete the remaining fields on the screen using the information below.

Numeric Entry General Tab
Field Description
Range Tick the Range box and enter values to define Minimum and Maximum range.

Select a Tag so that the user can adjust the range.
If the panel user enters a number outside the predefined range, the keypad displays an error.
Data Entry/ Display Tag Numeric data is entered to and displayed from this Tag Name.
Use Display Tag Enter a Tag Name here if you want to have different tag names for Entry and Display.
This is useful if you want the PLC to manipulate the number and display the manipulated value.
Use Tag for Decimal Point Implies a decimal place in an Integer value. Floating Point format tags ignore this value. When enabled, the Number of Digits: Fractional setting is ignored.

Data Type

Select the format to display the value. This drop-down list changes depending on the display tag name data type.
Signed Integer — Signed Decimal
Unsigned — Unsigned Decimal, Octal, or Hex
Floating PT32 — Floating Point
BCD Integer — BCD

Number of Digits

Total — the total number of digits displayed. If the number entered has more digits than configured, the most significant digit will be truncated.
Fractional — like the Use Tag for Decimal, this value adds an implied decimal place in an integer value and determines the decimal placement for Floating Point values.

Prefix and Suffix

Text in the display area before or after the numeric value.

Comma Separator

Places a comma separator between hundreds and thousands.

Justify

Leading Zeros - displays a 0 instead of spaces for the digits before the first non-zero digit.

Leading or trailing spaces — do not display any unused digits.

Object Style

Style 1— A pop-up keypad opens on the panel.
Style 2 — An external device such as a bar code reader or external keypad connected to the USB A port.

Keypad

This is the Style 1 Keypad selection. Either select the System Default keypad or a keypad you create in the Define Keypad database.
