AutomationDirect launches Edison fuse line

Edison fusesCumming, GA --- May 12, 2005 --- AutomationDirect has launched the Edison line of fuse products which includes a wide variety of fuses and accessories used in several applications. Edison Fuse is a subsidiary of Cooper Industries, the worldwide leader in circuit protection.

The Edison Fuse products are industry-standard fuses designed using high-quality materials and manufacturing methods. All Edison fuses can be directly cross referenced and used as replacement for other name-brand fuses. AutomationDirect is pleased to carry the most popular Current Limiting Class CC and the Class M Midget general purpose fuses for industrial control applications.

The Class CC current limiting fuses, frequently used in applications for small motor branch protection, are available in both time-delay and fast-acting models. Because of their current limiting performance, these Class CC products are sometimes regarded as an upgrade to the Class M general purpose fuses. The CC line is recognized for NEC branch circuit protection and Type 2 coordinated applications for IEC or NEMA starters/contactors. Fuses offered in the Class CC line are time-delay branch circuit rated for 600 VAC, with ampere ratings from 0.25 to 30 amps and an interrupting rating of 200,000 RMS symmetrical amps. Where adherence to extensive current limiting codes is not required, the Class M general purpose midget fuses provide an effective solution for both time-delay and fast-acting protection. Fuses in the Class M series have voltage ratings from 250 to 600 VAC, in ampere ratings from 0.5 to 50 amps, and an interrupting rating of 100,000 RMS amps. Primary among the applications for the Midget class are supplemental protection of end-use equipment as well as small motors, transformers, solenoids, and other high-inrush power circuits. The fast-acting design responds quickly to both overloads and short-circuit current, and the time-delay allows harmless inductive surges to pass without needless fuse opening. All fuses are standard 13/32 in. x 1-1/2 in. size and offered in packages of 10 at prices ranging from $7 to $50 per box.

Companion DIN rail mount fuse holders feature multiple-pole configurations, finger-safe protection, and are constructed of a self-extinguishing polyester material that is UL 94V-0 rated. Panel-mount fuse blocks are a pressure plate type with quick disconnect, and tin-plated bronze clips. Both the holders and blocks are offered in packages of varied quantities with prices starting as low as $29 per box.
