Use the Fieldbus screen to configure communication settings when using Modbus RTU or MODTCP/EIP communications.
On each screen you can load the current settings by clicking Read All Parameters.
Parameter data can be adjusted by selecting the appropriate radio button or drop-down menu item. To update multiple parameters, click Write All Parameters to copy the parameter values to the servo. To update just the parameters bounded by the blue box, click Write Selected Item(s)

Station Number Setting | P3.000 sets the address for the drive when using RS-485 communications. This is an absolute address for the drive on the communication network and must be unique. The default value is 0x7F, possible settings are 0x01 to 0x7F. This is a normal requirement for serial networks. If using an Ethernet network (see below), this value must also be set for proper communication. |
|||||||||||||||||||||
Communication Protocol | P3.002 sets the communication protocol to use used. Use the drop down menu to select from the 9 available options. The default setting is 6: 8,N,2 (MODBUS RTU).
Communication Timeout | P3.004 sets the communication timeout in seconds. If the value is 0, no timeouts will occur, otherwise a timeout will occur after the selected number of seconds. The default value is 0, possible settings are 0 to 20 seconds.
Transmission Speed Setting | P3.001 configures the transmission speed to be used for communications on each port using a hex setting. The default value is 0x0203, possible settings are 0x0000 to 0x3405. Each digit after the x configures a different port:
The numerical value entered for range represents the following:
Note that the communication speed of USB is set at 1.0 Mbit/s and cannot be changed. |

Communication Error Handling | P3.003 sets how the system will respond to communication errors. If set to 0 (first radio button) the system will display a warning but the motor will continue to operate. If set to 1 (2nd radio button) the system will display a warning and the motor will decelerate to a stop. If deceleration is chose, you can also configure the deceleration time in ms using P5.003.B. Select your desired value from the drop down. |

NOTE: Although Station Number Setting (P3.000 from the RTU screen) is typically not required for Ethernet communications, the SureServo2 drive requires that this value is set. If P3.000 is not set correctly, Ethernet communications may not work.
IP Configuration | P3.049 determines whether the system will use Static (0) or DHCP controlled (1) IP addressing. If you select 0, you need to manually configure the IP address using P3.050 through P3.061.
IP Address | P3.050, P3.051, P3.052, P3.053 are used to configure the first, second, third, and fourth octets of the IP address. The system default is 192.168.1.10, but you can use any valid IP address.
Net Mask | P3.054, P3.055, P3.056, P3.067 are used to configure the first, second, third, and fourth octets of the net mask. The system default is 255.255.255.0, but you can use any valid net mask.
Gateway | P3.058, P3.059, P3.060, P3.061 are used to configure the first, second, third, and fourth octets of the gateway address. The default is 0.0.0.0, but you should configure to match your gateway address.
Reset to Factory Defaults | P3.064 resets the system to factory defaults. Press this button to return all addressing to the factory setting.
Push Parameters to Card | P3.065 writes the configured settings to the communication card.
Communication Card Error Status | P3.048 displays any communication errors with the comm card. By default, this box should be empty. Possible error codes include:
|
||||||||||||||||||||||||
Ethernet Timeout Duration of Communication Card | P3.067 sets the Ethernet timeout detection in ms. Default value is 30ms, possible settings are 1 to 600 ms.
Ethernet Timeout Detection of Servo Drive | P3.068 enables or disables the timeout function for EtherNet communications. 1 enables timeouts, while 0 disables them.
Ethernet Timeout Handle of Servo Drive | P3.069 configures the system response to an Ethernet timeout. Default is 1, possible settings are 0 to 4. For the ramp to stop option, P5.003.C will set the deceleration slope, but cannot be configured on this screen.
Write Timeout Settings | Press this button to write the values of P3.067, P3.068, and P3.069 to the communication card. |
