Tag Names Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Yes. However, only Tag Names that are used for only one Object may be modified. If the Tag Name is assigned to more than one Object, the assigned Objects will need to be deleted or reassigned to other Tag Names, even if temporarily. For more information click here: Tag Name Edit. See also Tag Cross Reference and Property List.

Retentive is an attribute that can be set for Internal tags. When a tag is Retentive, if power is lost at the C-more panel, the tag will retain its value when power is restored to the panel.

The value of a Retentive Tags will be erased when:
- The panel is not powered long enough for the capacitor that saves internal Data to discharge
- This capacitor will retain Data for a minimum of 30 days
- When a Memory Clear is executed through the software or the System screen
- When a project is Sent or Copied to the panel

The PLC addresses assigned to these tags are read only. If this is the case, even if you define the tags as Discrete, the tags will not be viewable. Since a Pushbutton writes Discrete Data to a PLC address, when the tag is Read Only, it does not allow the Pushbutton to write Data to the PLC address.
