C-More Programming Software provides three methods for saving a project. All three methods are available from the File menu in the top toolbar.
- Save Project: saves an existing project to its current files name or a new project to a new file name
- Save Project As: saves a current file with a new file name
- Save Project as Protected: saves the current file as protected and no longer editable
Save Project
Save Project is available using three methods:
- Select Save Project from the File Menu located on the Main menu and shown above
— or — - click the Save Project Icon
on the File Toolbar
— or — - Use the shortcut Ctrl+S.
When you click on Save Project, the existing project will be saved with its current file name. If the project file is new and has never been Saved, the Save Project As window will open.
Save Project As
Save Project As allows the user to select a folder to save the project file to a new file name.
When you click on Save Project As, the window shown below opens. This window also opens when you click Save Project in the File Menu if the project is being Saved for the first time.
This window enables you to select a folder to Save the project file by using the Save In field to browse the folders. When the desired folder is located, click on the folder to select it. If a new folder is required, use the Create New Folder Icon available from the window shown above.
Once the folder is selected, click on the field for File Name and type in the name for your new project, followed by clicking on the Save button. The window will close and your new project file is saved. The new file will become the open project and the previous project is closed with no changes saved to it.
If this window is accessed by mistake, click on the Cancel button to Close and Cancel this operation.
Save Project as Protected
The Save as Protected option is intended primarily to allow the creator of a project to protect the intellectual property the project represents. To be the most secure, a project should be written to panel memory and NOT an SD card in the SD1 slot. If the project is written to the panel, when a card is installed in the SD1 slot, the SD card may be copied and installed on another panel. Though the project on the SD Card is still not editable in the C-more software.
A protected project file can only be used to transfer to another panel and cannot be edited. A protected project on a panel is not accessible using the C-More Programming Software.
When creating a Protected Project file, you should make an editable project file to store for backup or future authorized modifications. Once this file is created, proceed to create the protected file.
