Clock Synchronization |
Topic: CM214![]() |
Clock Synchronization matches the time and date and sets the Time Zone between the C-more panel, connected PLC devices, and external clock sources, as well as offering an option to set the time zone.

The C-more panel can read clock data from an external source, or be the source and write the date and time data to a PLC, or both.
Follow the links below for more information about each tab:
Clock Synchronization Options
Both Read from External Clock and Write to PLC Clock allow certain common options.
Read from External Clock allows you to enable or disable the Synchronize Option by ticking the box, but Write to PLC Clock does not have that option. Synchronization is always enabled, but you must select the synchronization method.
There are two possible operations for synchronizing clocks:
-
Read from External Clock: reads values from a Network Time Service or from a connected PLC.
-
Network Time Service: the Date and Time values are written directly into the panel internal clock on synchronization.
-
Read from PLCL: the Data and Time tags are updated from the PLC continuously. The values are written to the panel internal clock on synchronization.
-
-
Write to PLC Clock: tThe Data and Time tags are updated from the panel internal clock on synchronization.
|
Note: If you enable both Use Network Time Service and Time Server, you cannot set the Synchronize Option. In this case, the system dynamically performs time synchronization between 64 and 1024 seconds to the Time Server set in the Network Time Service. |
Synchronize on Power Up and Initial Communications
Tick this box so that Synchronization occurs on every power up and every time communication with the clock source is established.
Synchronize Option
Tick this box to enable the Synchronize Option feature.
|
Note: You cannot disable the Synchronize Option feature from Write to PLC Clock. |
The following options are available in for Synchronize Option:

|
Note: Synchronize by Tag value changed is only available when Read from PLC Tags is enabled. |
- Each time a tag is updated, the value of that tag is synchronized with the target, either the PLC or C-more panel clock. For example: the seconds tag updates every second, the minutes tags, every minute, and so on.
|
Note: This method uses the most band width because it is updating every second. |

Sets the interval at which the tag values and the respective device clock is synchronized.
- Every Hour: select the minute of the hour to initiate
- Every Day: select the hour and minute of the day to initiate
- Every Week: select the Day of the Week, Hour, and minute to initiate

You can use any C-more tag, discrete or integer to initiate the synchronization when the conditions are met.
